Our Story
From Waterfalls to Wild Wood
One of our family’s favorite traditions has always been chasing waterfalls.
When we lived in metro Atlanta, weekends often meant loading up the kids and heading north — hiking to Amicalola Falls in North Georgia, exploring trails in North Carolina, or spending time in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. There’s something about a waterfall — the sound, the stillness, the reset — that brings you back to what matters most.
In 2019, we moved to LaFayette, Georgia, tucked into the northwest corner of the state. Not long after, people kept telling us: “You need to visit Mentone, Alabama.”
The first time we stood at DeSoto Falls, we understood immediately. The beauty. The quiet. The charm of the mountain community. Mentone wasn’t just a place to visit — it was a place to exhale.
A few years later, we returned for an anniversary getaway in a cozy local cabin. That trip changed everything. With backgrounds in land investing and real estate, we had always talked about building something of our own — cabins we could enjoy personally and share with others. Sitting on that porch, surrounded by trees, we realized: this is where it should happen.
In 2023, after that anniversary trip, we decided to move forward. We came home, started planning, and Wild Wood Cabins began to take shape.
Why Wild Wood Cabins?
We didn’t just want to build cabins. We wanted to create the kind of place we would choose ourselves:

- A private hot tub under the stars
- A firepit for late-night conversations
- A comfortable space to truly reconnect
Wild Wood Cabins was built from our love of waterfalls, hiking trails, and unhurried mornings in the mountains. It was built for couples celebrating anniversaries, families exploring the canyon, and anyone who simply needs to unplug for a while.
Mentone gave us memories long before we ever owned property here. Now, it’s a privilege to be part of the experience for others.
